Todd Snider - Words and Music - 2012

by Darren DeVivo

There is grit and wit in the songs of Nashville-based Todd Snider, and this year he's added two new albums to his already-solid catalog: a Jerry Jeff Walker tribute, and a collection of (mostly) his own songs, called 'Agnostic Hymns & Stoner Fables.' Todd also headed out on tour, and stopped by FUV to talk with host Darren DeVivo about bringing those hymns and fables to life. [recorded 03/08/12]

While other Seattle musicians like Nirvana and Pearl Jam introduced audiences to grunge rock in the early 1990s Todd Snider was coming out of that same Northwest scene playing Americana music chock full of humorous lyrics delivered by a trove of hardscrabble narrators. He sat down in studio A with FUV's John Platt to discuss his latest album, 'The Excitement Plan,' which features more of his standard down on your luck characters and top-notch production from Don Was.[6/11/09]
