Steve Earle - FUV Live - 2013

by Carmel Holt

The Low Highway is the 15th full-length album from roots rocker Steve Earle, and it has him working with his trusty band The Dukes again, as well as his longtime partner Ray Kennedy. Steve Earle recently dropped by WFUV to talk about the making of the new record and to catch us up on some other projects he's been working on. We were also treated to a few live songs in Studio A: "21st Century Blues," "Invisible," and the title track of the new album, "The Low Highway."

We here at WFUV have been HUGE fans of Steve Earle for many years now. We've been lucky enough to have him in our studios a couple of times; most recently back in 2009 when he released his album, "Townes" a musical tribute to his late friend and mentor, Townes Van Zandt. You can hear that Words & Music Session with Steve Earle in our archives.

WFUV Pop Quiz: Steve Earle

by Laura Fedele
Laura Fedele

For more than three decades, Texas-born Steve Earle has been one of the most respected songwriters of country and folk music, first in Nashville and for the past few years in New York City, where he lives with his wife, Allison Moorer, and their son John Henry Earle. He's never been shy about expressing his opinions, so it was natural to ask him to take the WFUV Pop Quiz. True to form, his answers were anything but predictable.

Aside from gear, instruments, your band, you don't go on the road without…?
