Get a jump on new music in the new year, as FUV staffers pick the artists to keep an eye (and an ear) on in 2013. And to get to know them better, follow the links to live performances in the WFUV archives.
Little Green Cars, the young Dublin band that closed out the WFUV/TAS CMJ showcase on October 16 with a rousing set, just released their debut single, the anthemic stomp "The John Wayne," back in July. But thanks to rich, five-part Fleet Foxes-reminscent harmonies, catchy choruses and confident live sets that earned them enthusiastic grassroots support, Little Green Cars, its members all barely out of their teens, emerged as one of the most enthusiastically hyped bands of this year's CMJ Music Marathon.
I'm still on a pretty big high after our first ever CMJ showcase tonight at The Living Room for WFUV and The Alternate Side. CMJ is all about musical discovery and our showcase echoed that sentiment.
WFUV and The Alternate Side's very first CMJ Music Marathon showcase takes place tomorrow, October 16, at the Living Room. We had a few questions to ask our four international bands — Copenhagen's Indians, Dublin's Little Green Cars and New York bands Savoir Adore and Wax Poetic — and they kindly offered up their views on everything from Brooklyn "myths" to not-to-be-missed CMJ acts.
Savoir Adore, Indians, Little Green Cars and Wax Poetic have been tapped to play WFUV and The Alternate Side's inaugural CMJ Music Marathon showcase taking place on Tuesday, October 16, at the Living Room. The WFUV and TAS showcase, which will be broadcast live on 90.7 WFUV beginning at 7 p.m. EDT, is supported by TuneIn. Listen to the world.
