Karl Wallinger

Whole Wide World: September 21st, 2012

by Marisa Frydman

Tune in for the Whole Wide World tonight. Join us as we say farewell to summer 2012 by playing songs from LP, David Byrne and St. Vincent, De La Soul, Citizen Cope, and Style Council among other greats. Be sure to keep your ears open for a Van Morrison tune, you’ll have the chance to qualify for a trip to see him play a special concert in his hometown of Belfast, Northern Ireland at the famous Europa Hotel. Also coming up is a live broadcast from World Party at City Winery featuring Karl Wallinger and his band from this past Monday, a performance which you won’t want to miss.

Karl Wallinger - Words and Music - 2012

by Rita Houston

Karl Wallinger has had a long and (mostly) enviable career -- first with The Waterboys, and since the late 80s as the mastermind behind the alt-pop wonderband, World Party. After a health scare, Karl has now mined the band's 25-year history to put together a gorgeous, 5-disc, 70-song collection from World Party, called 'Arkeology', and he came by FUV to discuss it with host Rita Houston.
