Julia Haltigan

On Your Radar: Julia Haltigan, Alan Semerdjian, The Looking

by John Platt

On December 9th On Your Radar presented a triple bill of talented New York artists to a packed house at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2.

Julia Haltigan, who grew up just a couple of blocks from Rockwood on the Lower East Side, has real star power, with dynamic songs and a hot band (which includes her father).

Singer-songwriter-teacher-poet Alan Semerdjian has roots on Long Island, but now lives in Stuy Town. With a trio of backing musicians, he gave us some of his "Quiet Songs for Loud Times."

Julia Haltigan - Sunday Breakfast - 2013

by John Platt
Native New Yorker Julia Haltigan grew up on the Lower East Side, just a couple of blocks from Rockwood Music Hall (where she'll perform for On Your Radar on December 10) and attended the School for the Performing Arts (where her classmates included Scarlett Johansson & Jack Antonoff of FUN). We can be thankful that she abandoned her dreams of a figure skating career for music. Though she claims Tom Waits as her musical hero, she can rock out, as she proved when she brought a musically muscular six-piece band (including her dad on guitar) to studio A for this Sunday Breakfast session.
