After making a name for himself in the bands Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, guitarist Jorma Kaukonen is as much of a road warrior as ever. During a stop in New York he visited WFUV to talk with Darren DeVivo.
With his 2007 album 'Stars In My Crown,' Jorma Kaukonen showcased his love for acoustic roots music and the sounds that have earned him master status on the six-string. But with Jorma, the history of country blues comes right along with the history of a few other bands like Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, and between tunes he mixed in a few stories from those days during a visit with Dennis Elsas.
Jorma Kaukonen made his name in psychedelic rock, but continues to prove his mastery and love of acoustic roots music in his recent work. 'River of Time' is his latest album, and it brought him to 'FUV for a performance and interview with host Darren DeVivo.
