Public Radio from Fordham University
NYC's answer to Bonnaroo - Governors Ball Music Festival happens this weekend.
The festival starts this Friday at goes till Sunday. Bands begin playing at noon and end at 11:30, so it is an all day affair and the line up this year is stellar!
Here is a small sample of who will be playing:
Britt Daniel (of Spoon) met Dan Boeckner (of Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs) in 2007. They kept in touch, played some shows together, and the musical romance eventually moved on to California to blossom into the so-called ‘supergroup’ Divine Fits (@DivineFits), with the addition of Sam Brown on drums and Alex Fischel on keys.
Tune in Friday, March 15 from 1-7pm for our live show from the SXSW Day Stage: Charles Bradley, Dawes, Divine Fits, Emmylou Harris with Rodney Crowell, Iron & Wine, Pickwick and Vampire Weekend.
This year we're working together with some of our favorite public radio stations and calling the show "Public Radio Rocks." ('Cause it does.)
When it was announced that Britt Daniel of Spoon, Dan Boeckner of Handsome Furs/Wolf Parade and Sam Brown of New Blood Turks were forming a new band, the first word that came to mind was "supergroup." Not to my mind, necessarily, but you get the idea. "Supergroup" gives the impression of a bunch of musicians who are passing time between their regular gigs to play around a bit. A distraction, of sorts. Nothing could be further from the case with Divine Fits.
