Bruce Cockburn

Bruce Cockburn - FUV Live - 2014

by Darren DeVivo
Celebrated Canadian singer, songwriter and guitarist, Bruce Cockburn, has just published his autobiography, "Rumours Of Glory  A Memoir", and issued an eight CD / one DVD companion compilation, also called Rumours Of Glory. Trying to sum up a career as long and rich as Cockburn’s is a difficult task, but these two releases attempt to do just that. Cockburn’s work has earned him a position as Officer in the Order of Canada and a place in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. He was also a recipient of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement. 2015 will mark the 45th anniversary of the release of his first album. It was a thrill to host Bruce’s return to WFUV for this session which takes a look back over his brilliant career.

The Kennedys/Red Molly: November 1, 2007

I've enjoyed many sessions with both The Kennedys (long-time friends of FUV) and Red Molly (the trio formed at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in 2004), but have special fondness for this 2007 session when Pete and Maura Kennedy joined Abbie Gardner, Laurie McAllister, and Carolann Solebello in the studio, just as Red Molly was gaining popularity. They did some songs separately and then joined forces for an awesome jam on "Matty Groves."

by Claudia Marshall
The making of Bruce Cockburn's new album 'Small Source of Comfort' involved travel to Afghanistan, commuting all over the US and southern Canada, and channeling Richard Nixon-but it's one of his most intimate yet. WFUV's Claudia Marshall talked with Bruce about that album, and he played a few songs live. [2/21/11]
