Brandi Carlile got a good education from the high-profile producers T Bone Burnett and Rick Rubin who helmed her previous releases. “I would liken working with A-list producers to going to college,” she says. “You don’t want to be a perpetual student. At some point, you need to apply your knowledge.” So for Bear Creek, Carlile was determined to take the wheel. She chose a studio environment closer – both physically and in spirit – to her own rural home.

Rural Washington native, Brandi Carlile, teamed up with producer Rick Rubin for her third album, 'Give Up The Ghost.' It features contributions from Elton John, Indigo Girls' Amy Ray, and pianist Benmont Tench. She played some tunes and told FUV's Rita Houston, that while she's not a country singer, she did grow up on a steady diet of country-western standards. (12/1/10)
