In this edition of Five on Three, Anthony Pucik, Tara Sledjeski and Martin McCormack looked at the hot start the Nashville Predators are off to and whether or not they can keep it up. We also looked at the new regime in the Department of Player Safety and how they have handled recent incidents in the leauge and caught up with all three local teams.

When the Rangers traded Brandon Dubinsky and Artem Anisimov to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Rick Nash back in the summer of 2012, they anticipated receiving the left wing that averaged over 30 goals a season. In his first two seasons with the Blueshirts, however, Nash only scored 21 goals in the lockout shortened 2012-13 campaign and 26 last season where he only played 65 games due to a concussion. But this season, the Rangers might finally be getting the Nash they have been expecting.

Rangers’ Stepan Out Indefinitely

Ranger fans were worried about Derek Stepan when he wasn’t able to go in the team’s first preseason game against the Devils on Monday night. Stepan had a leg injury, but the one he sustained Wednesday afternoon at practice was far more severe.

New Rules Announced for NHL 2014-15 Season

Yesterday the NHL announced a few rule changes for the 2014-15 season that ranged everywhere from the rink to the shootout to face-offs. Looking through the rules, many of them focus on incidents or issues that players, coaches and fans have complained about over the years and wanted changed in some way, while also showing the NHL is looking to make the game safer and will not tolerate players taking advantage of obscurities in old rules.
