Fordham Women's Basketball Wins in Final Seconds

by Drew Casey

Drew Casey: WFUV Sports

Although the official Atlantic 10 standings said that Fordham lost to Saint Joseph's today, that was not the case in Philadelphia. Down 47-46 with 10 seconds remaining in regulation, senior forward Emily Tapio took an inbounds pass from point guard Tiffany Ruffin and converted a layup to give Fordham a 48-47 lead. The ensuing Saint Joseph's shot was blocked by none other than Tapio, and Fordham went on to improve to 9-2 in the A-10 and 17-7 overall.

Timeout. Media Timeout.”

That’s our cue to play. And by “our,” I mean the pep band. I work at WFUV, but I don’t call basketball games, I play music for them. As President of the Fordham Band, I help lead the group of rugby shirts next to the student section. So, in way I’m helping provide “color” to the game, but it’s quite more than that.
