The Knicks are going on 40 years removed since their last Championship, and the Rangers last won a Stanley Cup behind Mark Messier’s guarantee in 1994, their first and last since 1940.
July 8, 2010. LeBron James, the dominant force in the NBA goes on ESPN to take his talents to South Beach. James would become the villain of the Association for the next few years until the “Chosen One” finally won a title with Miami in 2012.

Reggie Evans put it best when he said Deron Williams was “hot like fish grease.” The Nets’ star point guard jogged the memory of a sellout crowd Friday night, reminding Brooklyn of the elite scorer he was with the Utah Jazz. Williams carried the team on his back, connecting on nine first-half three pointers, an NBA record for most in a half. He finished with 11, and a season-high 42 points on the game, as the Nets took down the Wizards 95-78.
“I haven’t seen a young team win an NBA title in the last 10, 15 years,” Knick head coach Mike Woodson said in July. “If you can tell me one, then so be it, but I haven’t seen one. It’s veteran guys that are winning NBA titles.”
This summer when trying to construct the Knicks roster, General Manager Glen Gruwald built a team to Woodson’s liking, adding antiques Jason Kidd, Marcus Camby, Rasheed Wallace, and Kurt Thomas, who at 40 is the oldest active player in the league.
The Knicks got off to their best start in nearly two decades, but fell back to Earth in recent weeks and headed into the All-Star break losers of three of their last four, and with seemingly more questions than answers.
Joe Johnson hit a 15-footer from the free-throw as time expired, and the Nets squeaked by the visiting Bucks Tuesday in OT 113-111. He's now 8-for-9 shooting in the final 30 seconds of one-possession games. His 8th attempt in those same scenarios? A trifecta with 1.3 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to an extra session. He showed the 17,334 faithful fans on-hand at the Barclays Center just how clutch he was.

The Brooklyn Nets made a statement Friday night in front of a sellout crowd at the Barclays Center, taking down the Bulls 93-89 despite some lackluster performances from their starters. With the victory, the Nets improved to 28-19, but more importantly they picked up a much-needed win against a team over .500.
