Ryan Rhoomes (19 points) and Bryan Smith (5 assists) career highs lead Rams to second straight win
Fordham (6-3) never trailed in a 79-60 win over Howard (2-11) at the historic Rose Hill Gym.
Sophomore Ryan Rhoomes had another big day with 19 points (career high) and 11 rebounds (one off a career high) in the post. Branden Frazier and Mandell Thomas paced the backcourt with each finished with 15 points for the Rams. Freshman Jon Severe added 11 points (on 4/14 shooting) and had four assists in 32 minutes.
The Bison were paced by James Miller's 15 points off the bench. No members of the Bison starting five managed double figure scoring efforts (two were shutout on the score sheet).
The game was close at the half in large part to Howard's active performance on the offensive glass, pulling in 15 offensive caroms to enter the locker room with a seven point deficit. Fordham's renewed focus on the glass allowed the Rams to win the full game rebounding battle while limiting Howard to just seven offensive boards in the second half. Several short runs extended the Fordham lead to as many as 23 late in the second half before the final horn.
The Rams are now 6-3 for the first time since 2000.
