Rams return to Rose Hill with two road wins to open the season
After losing to both the University of Albany and Cornell University last year, the Fordham Rams women’s basketball team flipped the script to begin the 2012 season by beating both squads on the road this past weekend. The new and improved Rams are 2-0 for the first time since the 2002-2003 season. In fact, Fordham is 2-0 on the road for the first time since the 2004-2005 campaign.
This week on the Stephanie Gaitley Show, Chris Marasco and I talked with Coach Gaitley about the road trip in upstate New York and what it feels like to be undefeated. The second year head coach told us how proud she was of the efforts of her team defensively at Albany and in crunch time at Cornell. Gaitley also stressed the importance of not letting up, as we previewed the team’s matchup against Deleware State Sunday.
We were also joined by tri-captain Abigail Corning. It was certainly a productive weekend for the Connecticut native as Corning scored 10 points in the victory against Albany. Corning told us about what makes this team so special, why they were so successful over the weekend and what to expect for the rest of the season.
