Bison ride Tyler Smith (3 TDs) to 27-24 win, Fordham falls to 5-4

Fordham (5-4) was looking to finish the season .500 on the road and come home with a chance to clinch a winning season against Lafayette on Family Weekend. Going into half, it seemed like Fordham would attain those goals. But after taking a 21-7 lead into the locker room, the Rams faltered and would ultimately fall to Bucknell (2-7, 1-4 Patriot League), 27-24.

Fordham's lead evaporated in the second half, as the Bison scored 20 unanswered points.  Fordham would fall short on fourth and long at midfield with less than a minute to go to close out the Bucknell victory.  Fordham outgained the Bison on offense 404-317 on the afternoon, but weren't able to take advantage of good field position to turn short fields into touchdowns.

The Rams fumbled three times (only one resulted in a turnover) and threw two interceptions, making good on Coach Moorhead's pregame prediction that the game would come down to protecting the football.  Tyler Smith was impressive on the ground finishing with 29 carries for 179 yards and two touchdowns, including a 76-yard scamper in the first quarter. Smith also caught a 26 yard touchdown pass from Brandon Wesley.  On defense, the Bison were led by Samuel Oyekoya, who finished with 5 tackles, three stops for a loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and two sacks.

Fordham was led by Carlton Koonce on the ground, finishing with 29 carries for 116 yards and two scores. Ryan Higgins finished 23 of 40 through the air for 267 yards with two interceptions.  Defensively, Mike Martin made a team high 12 tackles, while Jake Rodriques added 10 tackles, including a game high four for a loss.  Patrick Murray hit all three of his field goal tries, including a 41 yarder.
