One on One

Puerto Rico and Baseball

by Jake Kring-Schreifels

I'm going to try to channel my inner Hunter S. Thompson here, and while I may not contain his Gonzo prose nor his dashingly portrayed good looks by Johnny Depp (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The Rum Diary), I’m at least attempting to cover a facet he never did in Puerto Rico: Baseball.

by Nolan Silbernagel

Nolan Silbernagel and Mike Valdetara discussed why the Giants suffered another late season collapse and if some serious coaching changes have to be made to avoid another disappointing season next year.  Listen in and see why Schwartz thinks the players are to be blamed more than the coaches.

WFUV Exclusive: AP All-American Patrick Murray

by Alex Smith

Rams’ kicker/punter Patrick Murray had an unforgettable senior season. Murray was a crucial piece of a Rams team that posted the school’s first winning record since 2007. Individually, he led all of the NCAA in field goals with 25 and also led the Patriot League in punting average, with 46 yards per punt. Recently, Murray was named the First Team 2012 Associated Press NCAA FCS All-American placekicker. Murray has also been named the winner of the 2012 Fred Mitchell Award, which honors the nation's top collegiate place-kicker among more than 750 FCS, Division II, III, NAIA and NJCAA football teams. The award is given to the most outstanding kicker, both on and off the field.

Saturday during One on One, Amit and I had the distinct opportunity to speak with Yahoo Sports National Baseball writer Jeff Passan about the Winter Meetings that took place last week. (This was taped just before Zack Greinke signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers).
