Brooklyn Public Library Heads into the 21st Century

The Brooklyn Public Library is looking to replace some branches that are underutilized with more modern facilities in the same neighborhoods.

The Wall Street Journal reports the library has outlined numerous goals to improve and streamline the system. It also wants to provide more resources for immigrants and poor families and add studio space for artists.

The paper says the library on Tuesday will unveil its newest flagship space at the main branch. It contains iMacs loaded with creative software and a 36-seat classroom where an arts group will offer classes in digital photography, podcasting and short-form video techniques.
