Blankets are needed for New York dogs and cats.
Animal shelters in New York are seeking donations for blankets for their homeless dogs and cats to keep them warm during cold winter days.
Putnam Humane Society President Michele Dugan said the shelter uses double the amount of blankets in the winter. She said they are running low on blankets for its 50 dogs and 70 cats.
The blankets are used inside as cushions and in outdoor dog pens. According to the Journal News, volunteers have created a new poster to encourage donations. At some point the blankets become tattered and must be thrown out.
Shelters in Westchester and Rockland counties also are seeking blanket and towel donations. They include the New Rochelle Humane Society and the Hudson Valley Humane Society.
