Director of Development, WFUV

DEPARTMENT: Development and University Relations, Lincoln Center Campus

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Secures gifts of $10,000 or more in support of the University’s nationally recognized member-supported public radio station and other important university priorities. Manages day to day activities.

• Manages a portfolio of 100 to 125 major gift prospects and is responsible for cultivating, soliciting and providing stewardship to secure approximately $1 million per year in major gift support.

• Working with the station’s advisory board, station staff and DAUR’s signature events team, the Director oversees the annual gala, whose proceeds comprise approximately 10% of the station’s budget.

• Works with the station’s general manager to recruit members of its Advisory Board and Gala Committee, developing major gift fund fundraising strategies in support of the station’s general operations and special projects

• Is a member of WFUV’s senior management team

• Is assigned a small number of prospects for other university priorities, specifically scholarships, facilities and the Department of Communications. All development staff is expected to assist the alumni relations and special events teams during Jubilee, Fordham Founder’s Dinner, and similar “all hands” events as needed.

• Occasional evening and weekend work is expected.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of professional fundraising experience are required, including demonstrated success at raising major gifts by developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation plans for gifts of $10,000 and above.

• Proven experience in the full spectrum of development including: gift policies, solicitations, stewardship, donor recognition, high level boards, cultivation events and fundraising galas, planned giving efforts, and administration.

• Experience in fundraising for public radio and/or the arts is highly desirable.

• Demonstrated ability to write effective solicitations, proposals, acknowledgements, case for support documents, and donor communications.

• Some evenings and weekends required.

• Demonstrated interpersonal and team-building skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with membership director and other colleagues, donors, volunteers, and university officials, with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, collaboration, professionalism, and discretion.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience

Radio Operations Director

DEPARTMENT: WFUV Radio, Rose Hill Campus

Responsibilities include coordinating the day to day broadcast operations of WFUV, providing technical support to professional and student staff and maintaining station online and recorded archives. This is a full-time position. Responsible to: Director of Technical Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support day to day operations of all radio broadcasting transmission, studio, digital media, and IT facilities and equipment
• Prepares and maintains daily automation schedules, logs and playlists for all three of WFUV’s channels, coordinating with Traffic, Music and Programming as needed
• Manages recording of local programs for automation, editing when necessary and maintaining high standards and strict quality control
• Supervises the proper recording, ingestion, broadcast and archiving of both local and syndicated programs
• Manages WFUV’s online archives, including recording, editing, upload, labeling and organizing programs
• Assists with maintaining WFUV’s recorded archives, including organizing, cataloging and labeling
• Maintains studio schedule using WFUV’s online scheduling system, working out scheduling conflicts as they arise
• On-call 24/7 for technical support
• Help maintain WFUV standards and uphold FCC rules and regulations
• Other duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Well-rounded knowledge of radio/audio equipment and technique
• Experience with automation systems (AudioVAULT preferred)
• Experience with digital audio editing software (ProTools, SoundForge, Adobe Audition preferred)
• Excellent working knowledge of computers and networking
• Knowledge of and ability to verify compliance with FCC rules and regulations
• Knowledge and currency on technological advances including radio broadcasting and workstation products, computer software and hardware, and media and entertainment technologies
• Set up and perform remote broadcasts via various technologies including ISDN, IP, and wireless
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces such as rooftops, pull and install wiring, use hand and power tools, work on small components, and perform other physical tasks related to electronic and plant maintenance
• Available to work various hours and days including some weekends, overnights, and holidays; on-call status 24/7 in case of emergency
• Attention to detail and follow-through
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to accept supervision
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Demonstrated interpersonal and team-building skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with the professional and student staff, with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, collaboration, professionalism, and discretion

SALARY: Commensurate with experience
