Tonight On the Whole Wide World: Introducing Lake Street Dive

by Rita Houston

Join us on tonight on The Whole Wide World for an exclusive premiere performance from rising stars, Lake Street Dive. After coming across their cover of the Jackson Five classic "I Want You Back" on YouTube, I invited the conservatory-trained quartet to be the opening artists for our Holiday Cheer for FUV show happening next Wednesday at The Beacon. Just as I expected, this band is much more than a covers project. Their original songs are fun, catchy, and masterfully performed. In a live session earlier today with Darren DeVivo, Lake Street Dive showed off their bold performance style and songwriting skills with this brand new, as yet unreleased, song called "Go Down Smooth".

Get your tickets now for Holiday Cheer for FUV next Weds, December 5 at the Beacon with Lake Street Dive, Shelby Lynne, Steve Earle, Shawn Colvin, and Lucinda Williams.Tickets available now at
Also on tap tonight Aaron Neville joins me in Studio A (recorded earlier in the week). He'll be singing his interpretation of various doo-wop classics as well as sharing some back story on his upcoming album, My True Story. I'll also be spinning new songs from from Lana Del Rey,The Lone Bellow, Tom Tom Club and British newcomer, Jake Bugg.
