New Music Monday Is Never Gonna Be Shameless

New Music Monday is a collection of the best new releases in music each week. We share them with you every Monday, every hour on WFUV.

Lissie- “Shameless”

“Shameless” is a catchy tune that lyrically focuses on her own budding celebrity following her very well received debut in 2010. “I don’t want to be famous if I got to be shameless,” she sings; good call on that one, Lissie.

Laura Mvula- Sing to the Moon

Classically trained British singer Laura Mvula has just released her studio debut Sing to the Moon. For some it may be easy to lump her in with Adele or countless other UK soul singers, but we think there’s something about Mvula that sets her apart.

Houndmouth- “On the Road”

Indiana band Houndmouth sound like they’ve been listening to a lot of FUV recently. The song is upbeat and jangly in a Deertick sort of way, which is always a good thing in our opinion.

Joseph Arthur- “Saint of Impossible Causes”

This new track from Arthur is off his upcoming album The Ballad of Boogie Christ. The fan-funded record sounds great judging by this first single.

The Shouting Matches- Grownass Man

The Shouting Matches are made up of Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, Phil Cook of Megafaun, and Brian Moen of Peter Wolf Crier. It’s hard to wrong with a lineup like that, and the band doesn’t disappoint with this rocking debut.

Sons of Fathers- Burning Days

This Austin-based duo really sound like they’re from Texas. A little country, a little rock, maybe even a little pop; these guys are ready to reach your ears up north.
