We’ve been big fans of this British quartet ever since their debut album, Sigh No More, which came out back in 2009. In fact, Mumford & Sons actually performed a live concert for us on the US release day of that album, which was one of their first ever American radio appearances. At the time, the band was a bit of a dark horse in the music industry, but they soon found themselves at the head of the pack, taking home Best Album of the Year at the prestigious Brit Awards.
Of course, as many of us know, the accolades continued to flow for Mumford & Sons on their follow up album, Babel, which again won them an award for album of the year, but this time it was granted by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States. They won themselves a Grammy! And before that happened, they again made time to stop by WFUV to do another live session with us.
Mumford & Sons will play Forest Hills Stadium in Queens this Wednesday, so in celebration of these Gentlemen Of The Road being back in our neck of the woods, we thought we’d revisit our session with them from last summer. Listen here.
