With the festival season swinging into gear, it's time for the annual WFUV Guide to Summer Music. We've compiled our picks for some of the best outdoor festivals, not just throughout the New York metropolitan area, but up to New England for Newport and Wilco's Solid Sound. Whether it's a subway ride or a road trip away, there's great music waiting for you!

CLEARWATER FESTIVAL

Where: Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson, NY

When: June 15-16

FYI: This is Clearwater's 35th Great Hudson River Revival, with Pete Seeger on hand once again at 94. Clearwater has many family-oriented activities. (Children under 12 are free.) Festival goers can sign up for two-hour sails on the sloop Clearwater or the schooner Mystic Whaler.

SOLID SOUND: WILCO'S MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL

MAD SQ MUSIC

FYI: Moving from its usual last weekend of July to the first weekend of August, the 25th anniversary festival focuses on longtime Falcon Ridge favorites. The Friday afternoon Emerging Artists Showcase is a chance to scout new talent. Early bird camping is available starting Wednesday afternoon for ticket holders with prepaid camping tickets. Children ages 12 and under are free.
