On Your Radar: Clarence Bucaro, Goodnight Moonshine, and Tara O'Grady

by John Platt

The August 13, 2013 On Your Radar at Rockwood Music Hall presented this triple bill:

Clarence Bucaro, a soulful singer-songwriter from Cleveland now living in Brooklyn. He recorded his most recent CD, Dreaming from the Heart of New York, in New Orleans with one of his mentors, Andres Osborne.

Goodnight Moonshine, a side project of Molly Venter of Red Molly and Eben Pariser of Roosevelt Dime, two of New York's best roots groups. They met at a folk conference and found they musical and personal chemistry.

Tara O'Grady - Sunday Breakfast - 2013

by John Platt

Tara O'Grady is an Irish-American living in New York City, raised on traditional Irish music (and Elvis Presley). These days she performs those traditional songs with pumped-up, swinging arrangements - what one person called "A Celt in the Cotton Club." She turned Studio A into the Cotton Club, backed by a super-fine trio of guitar, sax, and upright bass, with a session that I'm pleased we also captured on video.
