Sammy Hagar's "I Can't Drive 55" may not be the safest song to drive to according to a new study conducted by London Metropolitan University. The Telegraph reports that the study found that the safest songs to listen to while driving have a tempo of 60 to 80 beats per minute, around the same as a human heartbeat. Topping the list of safest songs is Norah Jones' "Come Away With Me".
Little Broken Hearts teams Norah Jones' sultry vocals with the production expertise of Danger Mouse (Gnarls Barkley, the Black Keys, Broken Bells). Danger Mouse (aka Brian Burton) called upon Jones last year to sing on Rome, an homage to classic Italian film score music that also featured Jack White. Norah and Danger Mouse hit it off so well that they decided to collaborate on Little Broken Hearts. For the first time Norah went into the studio without any songs in hand. The two co-wrote all of the songs on the album while they were recording.

“My name is Norah, and this is my band. We’re going to play songs from my new album.” With those few words Norah Jones kicked off a rehearsal last night before an audience jammed into The Living Room. (Some were folks who’d come for my monthly On Your Radar showcase of emerging artists and stumbled onto this little surprise.) Why there? Probably because The Living Room (albeit the original location around the corner) was where she got her start. Why now? She’s headed to Austin for a SXSW showcase this weekend.

'The Little Willlies: For The Good Times' The Little Willies (Lee Alexander, Jim Campilongo, Norah Jones, Richard Julian and Dan Rieser) have returned with 'For The Good Times' -- the rousing follow-up to their eponymous 2006 debut. Ahead of its 2012 release, the band previewed songs from the new album at a few select shows last fall, including a performance at The Bell House in Brooklyn.
Norah Jones is back in Studio A for the release of her fourth studio album 'The Fall,' which features contributions from Ryan Adams, Okkervil River's Will Sheff, and guitarist Marc Ribot. Norah and her full band joined Rita Houston to play an extended set of songs off her new album. (11/19/09)
