The Looking

On Your Radar: Julia Haltigan, Alan Semerdjian, The Looking

by John Platt

On December 9th On Your Radar presented a triple bill of talented New York artists to a packed house at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2.

Julia Haltigan, who grew up just a couple of blocks from Rockwood on the Lower East Side, has real star power, with dynamic songs and a hot band (which includes her father).

Singer-songwriter-teacher-poet Alan Semerdjian has roots on Long Island, but now lives in Stuy Town. With a trio of backing musicians, he gave us some of his "Quiet Songs for Loud Times."

Alan Semerdjian and The Looking

Two of New York's finest talents visited the Sunday Breakfast for a session together in Studio A. Alan Semerdjian is a singer-songwriter-poet-teacher whose new album, Quiet Songs for Loud Times, addresses big themes like aging and mortality in a beautiful way. The Looking is the persona of Todd Carter, a onetime divinity student who uses his classically-trained voice to deliver both original songs and creatively reimagined covers.
