The rising Brooklyn folk-pop band infuses its songs with charm, radiant hooks and intense emotions. Formed as a creative outlet for singer Zach Williams as his wife recovered from an accident that nearly paralyzed her, The Lone Bellow performs with a sense of necessity. Hear the band perform as part of the 2013 Newport Folk Festival.

I often say that I major in music with a minor in food, so putting together "The Highline Sessions at Del Posto" with restaurateur, winemaker and FUV Member, Joe Bastianich, has been a labor of love to say the least. The series is a benefit for FUV and a benefit to the ears and taste buds of everyone in the room. In the latest show, Joe and his band The Ramps performed as part of a line-up with John Pizzarelli, Gaetano Valic, The Lone Bellow and Josh Ritter. Listen to highlights here.

Okay, we’ll come right out and say it: we love The Lone Bellow. One of our 2013 Artists to Watch, Brooklyn trio The Lone Bellow have already graced Studio A for Words & Music, enchanted us with their live performance at Del Posto, and now, we’re excited to feature the band’s self-titled debut as our WFUV CD of the Week.

A lot is about to change and quickly for this trio of Southerners who now call Brooklyn home: The Lone Bellow has yet to perform outside of New York, but their debut album is already charting on iTunes. They just quit their day jobs this week so they'll be able to go on tour. You'll see in this performance why they're bound to connect with new fans on the road. Zach Williams, Kanene Pipkin and Brian Elmquist are natural, passionate live performers who play and sing in close harmony with startling confidence.

The Lone Bellow - Words and Music - 2012

by Rita Houston

The Lone Bellow continues a long line of great Studio A debuts. After taping their first-ever radio interview at FUV, it was pretty clear to me that more people needed to hear this Brooklyn trio. We invited the band to open our Holiday Cheer for FUV concert, but illness kept them away. Since then they've treated our Marquee Members to a performance, and appeared at a Del Posto fundraiser. If you haven't had the chance to see them live yet, do your best to get there.
